The rise of authentic human communities
200 Words: When we express ourselves as God expresses himself, we then experience the rise of authentic human communities – starting with marriage and family.
Words are important to God, because he is a Word-Person:
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God (John 1).
God expresses himself, and the expression is so perfect, that it is a Word-Person.
Furthermore, God is love (1 John 4), and the expression of this love between the Father and the Word is perfect. We, too, have a Love-Person within God – the Holy Spirit.
Can we see the implications of this for human existence?
We, made in the image and likeness of God, are called to express ourselves truthfully and lovingly, thereby giving hope to those who hear us and encounter us.
When we express ourselves as God expresses himself, we then experience the rise of authentic human communities – starting with marriage and family.
This is the import of our first reading, which carries with it three metaphors, explaining:
The test of a man is in his conversation (Ecclesiasticus 27).
We might do an audit on our speaking and talking:
Do we talk too much, thwarting the expression of others?
Are truth and love front and centre of our conversations, aiding authentic community?
Amen.
