The ‘Conversion of St. Paul.’
No doubt, he was a ‘man of God.’ But also a murderer, sincere in his convictions.
He sincerely believed he was doing the right thing when, in fact, he was doing the wrong thing.
Our spiritual tradition is clear:
A good intention cannot turn a bad act into a good one.
Then again:
Neither is a good act done with a bad intention acceptable.
Act and intention have to line up.
Sorry to spoil the party, but life is a gargantuan struggle:
To do the right thing for the right reason.
